Software Projects Manager
Gradwell dot com Limited has doubled in size every year for the last 3-4 years, and this growth, in terms of finance, staff and customer base has been driven through a well defined strategy of sales & marketing, good quality customer support and service delivery, but also a strong focus on product development and technical innovation.
With many projects on the go, and approximately seven of the 20 staff devoted to technical functions – software development, systems administration and 2nd line support, the need now arises for a strong project manager to oversee the definition, management and scheduling of software projects and advance our product delivery programme.
As a software engineering graduate, advancing the technical agenda has been Peter Gradwell’s focus, and the line management of the technical function has been his responsibility, however the growth of the business demands new priorities and this job has been created to fill the following criteria:
- The technical team require a “full time organiser”, setting objectives, reviewing progress and providing structure in the bath office.
- Capture and document the technical developments required to support new product developments.
- Collate feature and bug requests, from customers via the support and sales teams.
- Plan the technical team workload on a weekly basis
- Lead the development team in Design, development, unit testing and documentation of software in line with company procedures.
- Accurately report on development team progress
- Mentor junior members of the development team providing the support and resources necessary to allow the completion of work in line within planned timescales
We are also keen to expand our software development throughput, perhaps through internet based outsourcing (e.g. www.odesk.com) and are interested in candidates who are comfortable with internet working and who have experience of working with and supervising remote workers.
This position is based in our Bath offices, and we have a big car park! We have a flexible approach to working, including flexi-time based on 10-4 core hours and support for partial-home working as appropriate.
This role is held within our senior management salary bracket with a strong salary, generous holiday (24 days), mileage and communications benefits.
