2nd Line VoIP Support and Development Engineer

As a new and fast moving technology, VoIP is a demanding product to provide and our customer support team is regularly faced with evaluating new and different types of network routers, phones, broadband services etc. to make sure it all fits together correctly so our clients can make phone calls.

We have won a number of awards in 2004 and 2005 in various DTI schemes including “Best use of Broadband” for our VoIP product and “Best Teleworking Company” and “Best Online Customer Service” for both of which we were highly commended.

Prior experience of the Internet, IT and Telecoms Sectors will be highly beneficial as our core business is selling outsourced telecoms, email and web hosting services to IT consultants, designers, media agencies and other small and medium sized technology based businesses.

About the job

Your responsibilities will be split 50/50 between providing 2nd line technical support to customers for our VoIP service and maintaining our website, database systems and backend provisioning scripts.

You will need to have a good familiarity with computer networks, broadband, linux based systems and be confident with php, mysql and perl. Experience with Asterisk and other VoIP services will be a plus.

You will be enthusiastic about new technology, eager to learn and educated with a Computer Science degree (or equivalent)

Salary is likely to be circa �20,000 pa, including benefits, overtime and on call allowance, for a 5 day week.

This is a full time position (37 hours, flexible), reporting to our Customer Support Team Leader, based at our offices in Chew Stoke, South Bristol. Additionally, we are looking to expand our out of hours service and some on-call work during evenings and weekends will be required.
